LAKE COMMUNITY & AMENITIES DEVELOPMENT PLAN REAL ESTATE REACH US ABOUT HOMEOWNERS' ASSOCIATION

Creek Crossing is more than a place on the lake, its home. This new Lakeside Community on Lake Wedowee is situated on the southern part of the lake. As children growing up on the property years before the lake was built, we would routinely ford the creek as we moved about the family farm. In the summertime the “creek crossing” was a refreshing place to escape the heat and skip stones across the water. With fond memories of simpler times, Creek Crossing is the name chosen for the development.

Creek Crossing has been owned by the Mitchell family for four generations. It was bound on the west by the Tallapoosa River and was hilly wooded terrain with stands of pine and hardwood timber. Some farming took place primarily on the river bottoms and tops of some of the hills. Historically, this part of Randolph County was poor, remote and sparsely populated. Following World War II most of the people began to move to other areas and towns in search of employment and better opportunity. As people moved away most of the land was purchased by the Alabama Power Company in anticipation of building the dam and lake. A few families, like the Mitchell’s, held on to the land and sold only what was necessary for the lake reservoir. While the Mitchell’s held onto the land, they also yielded to the need for jobs with better opportunities which took them away from the farm. Now years later, many things have changed. We are eager to return to and live on the property. Come home with us to Creek Crossing!
